5 Tips to Boost Your Immunity during the Holidays

December is my most awaited time of the year not only because it is my son and I's birth month but because of Christmas. I really feel giddy with anticipation when the calendar hits the ber months and the weather starts to get cold. Christmas for me is a celebration of love because we celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ who showed us the true meaning of love.

It is the time for sharing our blessings to our loved ones and especially to those who need it the most like victims of calamities, abandoned elders, street children and etc. Christmas is a perfect opportunity to show acts of kindness and compassion.

It is also the time for Christmas parties, family gatherings and reunions. There are lots of people at the mall buying gifts. Traffic becomes heavy because there are lots of places we want to visit. There are lots of things to do that makes everyone excited about Christmas. However this excitement also comes with stress thus one must not get too caught up with the Christmas cheers and forget to take care of themselves. I would like to share these five tips in boosting your energy this Holidays because nobody wants to get sick this season right?

1. Feel happy and be happy in the happiest season of the year!
Being happy is great on its own but there are also health benefits attributed to it. There are lots of scientific studies attributing health decline because of negative emotions thus steer away from negativity and adopt a positive outlook in life. Do the things that makes you happy like spending quality time with your family and friends and Christmas is the perfect time to bond with them.

2. Exercise daily.

Despite the hectic schedules with Christmas parties, shopping for gifts and practicing for choirs and other activities, we must not forget our daily routines for fitness. We can squeeze in a bit of exercise in our Christmas activities like brisk walking when attending Simbang Gabi or caroling around the neighborhood. You can also walk around the poorest part of the city and distribute toys or gifts to the young and old.

3.Rest!

Christmas parties might end up a little late at night and sometimes even at wee hours of the morning. It is important though that you don't forget to rest. You have to say no sometimes to after party events that could deprive you of sleep. It is still very essential to maintain at least eight hours of sleep to let your body rest and recover your energy...so you can attend another party the following day!

4. No to excessive intake of unhealthy food.

This is perhaps the hardest thing to do this Christmas as we are tempted to devour all the delicious food served in various parties. Hello there lechon, spaghetti, patatim and overflowing desserts! That is why I said "excessive" because we don't need to deprive ourselves but we just need to be mindful of our food intakes. It is important to eat a balanced diet by eating the right amount of calories that your body needs and eat a wide range of nutritious food which includes fish, fruits and vegetables.

5.Consume your daily dose of Vitamin C!

Vitamin C , according to experts is one of the safest and most effective nutrients. We can get it from fruits and vegetable but to ensure one meets the daily supplemental need we often take supplements. A good and accessible source of vitamin C is Fern-C.

Fern-C is an immune-system booster  because it provides protection against immune system deficiencies. I personally take Fern-C and every time I feel that I am coming down with colds or flu I take 3 to 4 capsules with lots of water and rest. It really works for me and I feel instantly better. For daily use I take one to two capsules.

Fern-C is a potent anti-oxidant. Anti-oxidants are beneficial to the body. It blocks some of the damage caused by free radicals which are substances that damage DNA. The build up of free radicals over time may contribute to the aging process and the development of health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and arthritis.

Fern-C contains Sodium Ascorbate. It is composed of Sodium and Vitamin C. Sodium acts as a buffer that creates a less acidic supplement than that of Ascorbic acid.It is bioavailable and “alkaline” which does not cause stomach upsets unlike Ascorbic acid. You can take it on an empty stomach and not feel any acidity.

You can check and follow the below-social Media Accounts or more information on Fern-C.

So don't forget to enjoy the holidays and the 5 tips I shared which is as easy to remember as the initials FERN-C !

Happy Holidays Everyone! :-)

Note: All photos are taken by my husband and used with permission except for the Fern-C photo grabbed from thefilipinodoctor.com
For daily maintenance, take 1-2 capsules

Electrolux HUSH Happier at Home

My days are filled with sounds.  Some sounds are welcome to my ears while most are unwanted sounds that become noise. Every working day I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock. On my way to work I am surrounded by the sound of traffic, the beeping of the horns, purr of the engines and chatter of the commuters. When I am at work the noises are muted but it’s still there. Around my tiny working space are sounds of the office machines, incessant ringing of phones, air-conditioning system and employees talking. These noises add up stress to my daily life.  That is why I rejoice when Saturday comes because for two days I can escape from the noises and the stress of work.

During the weekends, I wake up as late as I want or when my son would gently rouse me and my husband from slumber. We sometimes go out to attend mass and visit my son’s grandparents but we usually just stay at home because it is the time we set for household chores like cleaning and doing the laundry.

As a working mother, I look forward to just spend a quiet and relaxing time with my family at home. I treat these moments as very precious because it is my time to bond with the three most important people in my life: my husband, my two year old son and my self.  The best things about these moments are:

Appreciation of nature:  My son and I usually stay in the garden. We would lie in the hammock beneath an old huge mango tree or lay a blanket on the grass and observe nature. We would watch the leaves fall and listen to the chirping of the birds. We would occasionally be rewarded with the sight of a fluttering butterfly on a nearby flower bush. It is a very relaxing and recharging experience to be with nature even in our own little garden.

Communication: In the absence of noises and distractions we can have conversations and really hear each other out. My son is still learning to speak and my husband and I encourage him by having conversations with him.  My husband and I also have better communication on weekends. At the end of the day we would love to sit outside and talk about anything under the moon.

Play and Learn:  We take every thing as an opportunity to teach our son. In doing chores he is very curious so we let him help. When my husband is preparing our meal we would give our son his own pot and utensils and he would mimic his dad.  While I clean around the house we would give him task like cleaning up his toys. Of course we also read him books and allow him to play with his toys.

ME time: After all my chores are done, when my son is having his nap or playing with his dad I sneak some time for myself. I would just curl up in bed and catch up on my reading or go online and write on my blog. It is the time I allow myself to bask in silence and get in touch with my inner self.

I have heard of Electrolux new products and I am excited by their HUSH features. It means that they engineered their products to operate at minimal noise level. I can see it perfectly fitting our home and won’t disrupt our peaceful weekend.

Electrolux Ultra Silencer Green Vacuum: Why have they thought of noiseless vaccum just now? I wonder. I rarely use our vacuum because it sounds awful. With this Electrolux Ultra Silencer Vacuum, I could hum "easy...easy like sunday morning" while cleaning our house and actually hear myself and have conversations with my husband and kid from across the room.

Electrolux Powersilent Blender: My son always covers his ears when we use our good ol blender. He doesn't like the noise it makes so this Powersilent Blender from Electrolux is just perfect for us. I can picture the three of us having a good time preparing a smoothie with this blender.

Scrapaholics World...Check!

I knew that the Scrapaholics World Contest starts at 2:30 pm so I plan to be at Abreeza at 1:00pm today. At 1:30pm I was still at home trying to pacify a crying baby. I almost did not go because I was thinking that I won't arrive on time but Mike urged me to go so I dashed off! I got there at 2:00pm and I immediately registered. I paid P150 and got a kit. I still have no pictures so I hurried to Photoline at the 3rd floor and had my pictures printed in just 10 minutes. I then ran all the way to the 1st floor. I got there on time as they were already giving instructions for the contest. My friend Agnes saved me a seat so while still trying to catch my breath I started with my entry for the contest. We were given an hour to make a 1 scrapbook page with the theme, Wacky Me and I came up with this entry.

We were told that the winners will be announced in an hour so while waiting for the judging to finish they raffled off prizes and all of us got something. The sponsors were so generous(National Bookstore, Bic and Hallmark)  I'm so happy with my prizes :D I looked around and saw that most participants were kids and their parents. I even saw Bea Atienza (Junior Masterchef Davao Contestant) and she looks cute in person as she does on TV.
Finally the winners were announced and I didn't win but I'm still happy because of the stuffs I got and because I am really excited and inspired to start Kulay's Scrapbook. I promised myself to start before the month ends...well see :)

Scrapaholics' World at Abreeza

I blogged about how I love scrapbooking in my former blog. I actually finished one scrapbook for my family. ..a real scrapbook and not digital. I loved doing it and plan to do some more. Now that I have a son, I have more reason to really get down and serious with scrapbooking. However my desire for scrapbooking lay dormant for a while because I got lazy and other little excuses that I haven't started with my son's scrapbook. Anyway the other day I chanced upon a post in the Abreeza page about the Scrapaholics World activity tomorrow October 16 at the Abreeza Mall. It will start at 10:00 am and they will have a scrapbooking competition which really got me interested. I really hope I can join tomorrow and hopefully this will get me started with my long over due project of my son's scrapbook. Here's the poster for Scrapaholics world lifted from the All About Scrapbooking page, the major sponsor for this event.
