5 Tips to Boost Your Immunity during the Holidays

December is my most awaited time of the year not only because it is my son and I's birth month but because of Christmas. I really feel giddy with anticipation when the calendar hits the ber months and the weather starts to get cold. Christmas for me is a celebration of love because we celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ who showed us the true meaning of love.

It is the time for sharing our blessings to our loved ones and especially to those who need it the most like victims of calamities, abandoned elders, street children and etc. Christmas is a perfect opportunity to show acts of kindness and compassion.

It is also the time for Christmas parties, family gatherings and reunions. There are lots of people at the mall buying gifts. Traffic becomes heavy because there are lots of places we want to visit. There are lots of things to do that makes everyone excited about Christmas. However this excitement also comes with stress thus one must not get too caught up with the Christmas cheers and forget to take care of themselves. I would like to share these five tips in boosting your energy this Holidays because nobody wants to get sick this season right?

1. Feel happy and be happy in the happiest season of the year!
Being happy is great on its own but there are also health benefits attributed to it. There are lots of scientific studies attributing health decline because of negative emotions thus steer away from negativity and adopt a positive outlook in life. Do the things that makes you happy like spending quality time with your family and friends and Christmas is the perfect time to bond with them.

2. Exercise daily.

Despite the hectic schedules with Christmas parties, shopping for gifts and practicing for choirs and other activities, we must not forget our daily routines for fitness. We can squeeze in a bit of exercise in our Christmas activities like brisk walking when attending Simbang Gabi or caroling around the neighborhood. You can also walk around the poorest part of the city and distribute toys or gifts to the young and old.

3.Rest!

Christmas parties might end up a little late at night and sometimes even at wee hours of the morning. It is important though that you don't forget to rest. You have to say no sometimes to after party events that could deprive you of sleep. It is still very essential to maintain at least eight hours of sleep to let your body rest and recover your energy...so you can attend another party the following day!

4. No to excessive intake of unhealthy food.

This is perhaps the hardest thing to do this Christmas as we are tempted to devour all the delicious food served in various parties. Hello there lechon, spaghetti, patatim and overflowing desserts! That is why I said "excessive" because we don't need to deprive ourselves but we just need to be mindful of our food intakes. It is important to eat a balanced diet by eating the right amount of calories that your body needs and eat a wide range of nutritious food which includes fish, fruits and vegetables.

5.Consume your daily dose of Vitamin C!

Vitamin C , according to experts is one of the safest and most effective nutrients. We can get it from fruits and vegetable but to ensure one meets the daily supplemental need we often take supplements. A good and accessible source of vitamin C is Fern-C

Fern-C is an immune-system booster  because it provides protection against immune system deficiencies. I personally take Fern-C and every time I feel that I am coming down with colds or flu I take 3 to 4 capsules with lots of water and rest. It really works for me and I feel instantly better. For daily use I take one to two capsules.

Fern-C is a potent anti-oxidant. Anti-oxidants are beneficial to the body. It blocks some of the damage caused by free radicals which are substances that damage DNA. The build up of free radicals over time may contribute to the aging process and the development of health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and arthritis.

Fern-C contains Sodium Ascorbate. It is composed of Sodium and Vitamin C. Sodium acts as a buffer that creates a less acidic supplement than that of Ascorbic acid.It is bioavailable and “alkaline” which does not cause stomach upsets unlike Ascorbic acid. You can take it on an empty stomach and not feel any acidity.

You can check and follow the below-social Media Accounts or more information on Fern-C.

So don't forget to enjoy the holidays and the 5 tips I shared which is as easy to remember as the initials FERN-C !

Happy Holidays Everyone! :-)

Note: All photos are taken by my husband and used with permission except for the Fern-C photo grabbed from thefilipinodoctor.com
For daily maintenance, take 1-2 capsules

Our Little Christmas Tree

One of the things I look forward to during Christmas season is decorating our home. When I was still living with my parents I usually bug my mom after Nov.2 to start decorating. The decorations along with Christmas songs somehow heightens the spirit of Xmas in our home.

Now that I have my own home and in charge of the decorations I felt a bit lazy. I get tired of thinking about getting the decorations from the storage, dusting it off and then taking them all down and cleaning after the holidays (now I know how my mom feels).

This year I wanted our decorations to be minimal yet unique and meaningful. I wanted to make our own ornaments for the Xmas tree. I wanted to decorate photos of our family on our little tree. I actually got the idea from my husband's cousin.

It took me and my husband some time to choose among photos and then we debated on what format to print it in (plastic or photo or laminated). In the end we just decided to have it printed as 2xs2 photos using the silk waterproof paper from Photoline.
My next challenge was too look for a gold thread because stores seem to run out of stock. I ended up using old ribbons from gifts and cutting it in strips.
Last night slept early with my son and woke up at 11:00 Pm (an evening nap?), I decided to put up the Xmas tree since it is just 7 days before Xmas day. I finished at 3:00am and here it is...presenting our Family/Xsmas tree.

I know I could have done more and add other ornaments but I wanted the photos to be the focal point. My son squealed in glee when he saw the tree this morning and got busy pointing at the pictures and identifying the people in it. I lighted up the tree and now he didn't want to turn it off. He seemed mesmerized by the lights and photos. The look of delight on his face is the very spirit of  Xmas and it lighted me up inside just like a Xmas tree.

Merry Christmas from our family to yours! :)

Globe's Christmas in November with Davao Bloggers

A Christmas Party in November? On a Weekday? Mike and I were full of questions as we went to the Globe Party. We didn't quite know what to expect since it was our first time to join an activity by Globe. See, Davao based Bloggers were invited by Globe Telecommunications for a Thanksgiving slash Early Christmas Party in November at Probinsiya Restaurant( located at Victoria Plaza Compound). When we got there we registered and enjoyed the sumptuous buffet served by Probinsiya. When everybody has eaten and  settled down and the hosts and Globe executives has arrived from Manila the party began. We were told that we will be having a quiz night and in between games they will be giving away raffles! The excitement level started to climb up! We were an intimate group of 21 and were divided into 3 groups.
The Three Groups
I belonged to the second group with Drew,Lyle,Perry,Crisylyn, Anj and Princess. We named our group Globe Platinum 7 and we had a cheering competition in which our group won. Thanks to Perry for quickly coming up with the Barok cheer :)

Barok Cheer !
Then we had the quiz night which i thoroughly enjoyed! The topics ranged from general trivia to That's Entertainment, Movies and Music, Globe products to Bomba stars! I learned a lot from the quiz like what happened to Jovit Moya and who is Coca Nicolas :D Our group won second place.
As to the raffles, I was eyeing the Ipad while Mike was crossing his fingers for the Iphone but sadly we didn't win. The lucky winners were Chito-Nokia X2, Brendel-Iphone and Crislyn-Ipad. Congratulations to the winners, guys just let us know if you plan to donate your gadgets :) After the games we were shown the globe's latest ad, Today I will...Go lang na Go! I like the ad because it sends a positive message of seizing the day and being proactive.
After the awards and giving of prizes and giveaways, sadly the party has come to an end.
Wacky Group Shot!
The night started with questions and ended with more questions! When is the next Globe event? Will I win in the Raffle? Kidding aside, we're filled with a sense of excitement for more future events with Globe, new products and improved services. I'm really thankful that we were able to be part of this event which gave us an opportunity to bond with fellow bloggers and the Globe Team. It gave us a chance to know more about Globe in a deeper level, not just a brand but a group of people who wants to provide us with quality service. Go lang ng Go! :)
